As we know it, 2020 brought a lot of change in the way things are done. Which has affected everything to how businesses are run, how you apply and interview for jobs to workforce environments. Keeping you aware of the changes as you prepare to enter into the workforce or re enter into the Job hunt is one of our goals.

Everyone is Hiring!!!  Now is the time to go after the job you’ve always wanted. Now of course we never promise or guarantee if you do EVERYTHING we say it’ll work. Sometimes the employers decide to go with other candidates….but check out our next article to find out how “WE”VE GOT YOU COVERED”!

5 Changes in the 2021 Workplace

1. Applying for Jobs online that are mobile friendly (Paper Apps are Dinosaurs) Less Contact. Making sure you have your resume uploaded on your phone is a must! And a professional email address.

2.
Interviewing at home (Virtual Interviewing is more popular). Make sure you keep a space in your house prepared just for interviews (and meetings). Neat, professional and quiet. Although most employers are understanding showing that you have a dedicated quiet, clean space is important.
3.
Working from Home---more zoom….more aware.. We’ve seen this all too often, someone goes to the restroom with their camera on while on a zoom meeting. Or someone may not be appropriately dressed (if at all) while on a zoom meeting. Bottom line, be prepared. Be aware that technology makes mistakes and so do we, stay clothed, and keep cameras out of places that are private spaces.
4. Working In Person on Rotation. Some jobs simply can’t be worked from home. Keep in mind that washing your hands, changing your clothes immediately returning home, sanitizer, Lysol or  other disinfectant spray will be a must.  If your job is one that requires you to come in, keep in mind that you must still keep your mask on, find things and ways to make working in a more open space more comfortable. For example: bring lunch or eat lunch in your car. Clean your area before sitting in it.

5.  Virtual Warnings & Termination. We hope this never happens to you BUT if it does Virtual terminations and Warning can get wired. Especially if you have to return the computer or laptop and equipment. Remember to be professional at all times, even if you want to keep the keyboard, mouse, and webcam (LOL). Remember you don’t want to pay for used equipment. Or worse be prosecuted for stolen property.  Virtual Warnings are just that, your boss warning you about either your work performance (lack thereof), attendance or etc. The best way to handle this is to give great eye contact, smile, and show them that you're listening and are willing to change. More importantly make sure when the meeting is over your camera is turned off, your mic is muted and you're in another room before saying “how you really feel”!

We know things have changed, the workplace is now in your home or at a physical location (short staffed). We’re here to help prepare you for those changes to be successful!
